FAQ’s and Spa Policies

Memberships

What kind of memberships are offered at Tao?
Tao offers three types of monthly memberships: 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Members save over 20% off regular prices.
What if I want to upgrade my signature service with one of Tao’s upgrade options?
Members pay 50% off the menu price for any and all upgrades. If you are upgrading your monthly service, you’ll redeem your membership credit and pay only half of the regular menu price for any upgrades you add to your treatment. Please note you also can add extensions time to your service. Members pay only $30 for extra 30 minutes or only $60 for extra 60 minutes.
What if I need more than one massage per month?
In addition to your monthly service credit, you can book additional services at your current member rate.
What if there is a month when I don’t use my monthly service credit?

Don’t worry! Unused monthly service credits rollover as long as your membership is in active membership status or you are in an approved membership freeze. There may be some months you need more treatments and some months where you don’t have time for treatment at all. We understand that and want to make it easy for members to use their monthly service credits when it’s most convenient for them.

If I can’t use my service credit, can I let a friend or family member use it instead?

Memberships at Tao are non-transferable. But we have an option of sharable memberships, where you can choose one person to share your membership with! Sharable membership options are:

  • 60 minutes sharable membership – $89;
  • 90 minutes sharable membership – $119;
  • 120 minutes sharable membership – $149

For non sharable membership, we offer the possibility of sharing credits when there are available credits with the payment of a small fee of $10 per appointment (guest pass). Just remember you need to have accumulated credits in order to do it and this cannot be done with cancelled or paused memberships.

Do members have to follow Tao’s appointment cancellation policy?

When you schedule a massage, we reserve a licensed professional therapist and a room especially for you. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us during business hours of the day prior to your appointment to not have any fee incurred. Cancellations made the same day with more than 3 hours notice from your appointment time will incur a late cancellation fee of $40 per hour of massage booked (members pay $30 per hour of massage booked). Cancellations made within 3 hours of your appointment or no-shows will be charged the full amount of your scheduled massage service (or 1 credit will be forfeit if available). Same days appointments are final and are subject to policies.

Do Tao members get discounts on products like CBD and body oils and other retail products?
Members receive 20% off all regularly priced retail products.
What if I have an emergency but I don’t want to cancel my membership?

Members can request to freeze their account for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 90 days, no more than once in any 365-day period. Members can redeem accumulated service credits during an approved membership freeze, but all additional membership benefits (ex. Discounts on upgrades, retails discounts, special members deals etc.) are frozen until the membership returns to active status. Membership freeze requests must be submitted in writing and are approved solely at the discretion of Tao management. Please not if you decide to cancel your membership after the freeze period, we need to collect one last payment.

Is it complicated to cancel my membership if I need to?

All members need to do is email member@taomassagetx.com to cancel their membership. Tao memberships can be cancelled at any time with zero fees and we just require one last payment after cancelation notice.

What if my doctor says I can no longer have massage treatments?
If you need a break from your membership while undergoing medical treatment, you can always submit a freeze request until you are cleared by your doctor. If you need to terminate treatment permanently due to medical reasons, Tao will waive the need for one last payment with appropriate letterhead documentation from a practicing physician.
What if I still have accumulated service credits when I cancel my membership?

Accumulated credits can be used for 30 days after cancelation request. If after 30 days, you still has available credits, they will be converted into a gift card according to the cash valued paid, but will no longer have access to member’s price.

I bought a membership, but I changed my mind about the purchase. What can I do?
Memberships can be cancelled within 72 hours of original purchase if no service credits or benefits have been redeemed. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to email: member@taomassagetx.com
What if Tao changes their prices during my active membership?
We will give at least 30 days notice for any price increase in your membership. You accumulated credits will still be valid for forfeit one service, even if we raise our services prices.
What if my credit card on file expires or is declined?
Members are responsible to inform Tao of changes and updates to their billing and contact information. Failure to update your billing information may result in early cancellation of your membership and any associated cancellation fees. Any available credits cannot be used until payment is received.
Is Thai Massage included in the membership?

TAO Policies

What’s your no show and last minute cancellation policy?

Please understand that when you forget or cancel/rebook your appointment without giving enough notice, we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time, other clients miss the opportunity to receive services and our therapists don’t receive their commission.

However, we understand life happens and that sometimes schedule adjustments are necessary.

– Cancellations made during business hours on the day prior to your appointment incur no fee.

– Cancellations made the same day with more than 3 hours notice from your appointment time will incur a late cancellation fee of $40 per hour of massage booked (members pay $30 per hour of massage booked).

– Cancellations made within 3 hours of your appointment or no-shows will be charged the full amount of your scheduled massage service (or 1 credit will be forfeited if available).

– Same day appointments are final and are subject to policies.

Please remember we can’t accept cancellations requests by text or email.

When booking an appointment with us, you are agreeing to our policy and providing us authorization to charge your card in case of last minute cancellation or no show.

What’s your policy for same days appointment?

Appointments booked within 24 hours are considered same-day appointments and are subject to our policies of late minute cancellation and no show.

What if I’m late for my appointment?
All massage appointments have been designed to allow appropriate time for full enjoyment of each service. Your late arrival may limit our ability to offer the fullest possible experience. Please be aware that late arrivals will not be afforded extension of scheduled treatments. Treatments will be rendered only for the remainder of the scheduled appointment, and you will be responsible for payment for the full service.
Why are you asking me to fill an intake form?
Massage establishments are regulated by the state of Texas, more specifically by TLDR. Updated intake forms are required by LAW. We reserve the right to refuse treatment for clients without a proper intake form. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee extensions of scheduled treatment times for any late arrivals and we cannot allow any clients to start their service without the required paperwork.
Can I bring my kid with me while I’m having a massage?
Our policy strictly prohibits unsupervised children in the spa. Kids are not allowed in treatment rooms while parent is receiving a massage since most of our rooms cannot accommodate an extra person. Unfortunately, we cannot provide childcare services. Children 13 and older capable of sitting quietly and unsupervised, may wait in the provided seating area. While this policy helps ensure that all guests enjoy a relaxing spa experience, it was created with your child’s safety in mind.
Can I bring my pet with me while I’m having a massage?
Only certified service dogs are allowed in our spa. We also request that you inform us in advance if you plan to bring your service dog to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for both you and your service dog since we have rooms that cannot accommodate an animal.
What’s the duration of the services? How much “hands on” will I get?
All massage sessions include five minutes before the hands-on portion begins and five minutes after the hands-on portion is over, for consultation and dressing. For example, a 1-hour session consists of a 50-minute hands-on service and 10 minutes of total time for consultation and dressing.
What’s the rules for online appointments?
To optimize our schedule and allow our therapist proper breaks between sessions, we might need to shift your appointment time by 15 minutes. When booking an appointment with us, you are agreeing to our policy and providing us authorization to charge your card ion case of last minute cancelation or no show.
Are there age restriction for receiving a service?

At Tao, we welcome guests of all ages to experience the relaxation and rejuvenation that massage therapy can provide. However, there are a few age restrictions we need to keep in mind, per Texas regulations:

  • For guests under 17: We require a written consent form from a parent or guardian before any services can be performed.
  • For guests under 15: We kindly ask that a parent or guardian be present in the service room during the entire duration of the massage. This is simply to ensure the minor feels comfortable and supported throughout their experience.

If you’re booking for a minor, please call us directly so we can ensure the appropriate booking is made and answer any questions you might have. We’re always happy to chat and help you find the perfect service for your loved one.

What’s your policy for lost and stolen items?
Tao Massage is not responsible for lost and stolen items. To avoid any unnecessary worry and maximize your relaxation, we kindly ask that you wear minimal jewelry and left your valuables at home.
Do you offer military discounts?

As a way to show our appreciation for your service, we are proud to offer a 10% discount on regular priced services to military personnel with a valid military ID. In addition, we are happy to waive the enrollment fee for any of our membership options for you.

Do you accept FSA/HSA cards?

You can use your FSA or HSA card for payment at our spa without any issues. Our payment system will accept these cards just like any other debit or credit card. It is solely the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the use of their FSA or HSA card for spa services is approved for reimbursement. While we provide detailed receipts, we do not have the capability to determine or verify the eligibility of your expenses with your FSA/HSA administrator.

Spa Ettiquete

How Early Should I Arrive to the Spa?

To ensure a smooth and seamless spa experience, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This buffer time allows you to:

  • Check in comfortably: Complete any necessary paperwork without feeling rushed.
  • Freshen up: Utilize the restroom facilities and settle into a relaxed state before your massage begins.
  • Start unwinding: Begin your journey of rejuvenation in our tranquil spa environment.
How do I know which service provider is best for me?

While every Tao Massage provider has extensive training and experience, they each bring unique strengths and specializations to the table. To help you find your perfect match, explore our “About us” page or talk to our friendly staff to find you the perfect match for your next session.

What Should I Wear to the Spa?
No need to worry about packing special spa attire! You can simply wear whatever comfortable clothes you like to the spa. Once you arrive, your therapist will give you some privacy to undress down to whatever level you’re comfortable with. They’ll step out while you disrobe, and then you’ll lie on the table under a sheet and blanket. During your massage, your therapist will only uncover the specific areas they’re working on at any given time, keeping the rest of you comfortably covered. This practice, called draping, is mandatory in Texas, so you can rest assured that your privacy will be fully respected. Just a heads-up, if you’re coming straight from a heavy workout, it’s best to shower first before your appointment. That way, everyone can relax and enjoy the experience to the fullest. Also, we recommend you to wear minimal jewelry or accessories.
And how about tipping? How much is appropriate?

At Tao Massage tipping your therapist is always optional but greatly appreciated! We take pride in paying our providers a fair market rate for their exceptional skills. However, if you feel your therapist exceeded your expectations a gratuity of 18-25% is the industry standard. The best part is, 100% of the tip you leave goes directly to your therapist! You can choose to pay by credit card during checkout or you can leave cash if you prefer. Just keep in mind, since we are a cashless store, we can’t provide change. Your generosity helps the therapist to feel valued and motivated to continue providing the highest quality service.

How often should I get a massage?
Once or twice a month is a good starting point for most people, especially if you’re looking to maintain healthy tissues, reduce everyday aches and pains, and manage stress levels. It helps your body recover from the regular wear and tear of daily life. If you’re dealing with specific pain points, injuries, or intense training, increasing frequency can accelerate healing and recovery. The same if you are experiencing high stress and anxiety. Your therapist can design a personalized plan based on your progress and goals. Remember, consistency is key! Even if you can’t manage weekly sessions, aim for regular massages to maintain the benefits and build a positive self-care.
What should I do after a massage?

After your massage, treat your body like a temple! Here’s how:

  • Hydrate: Your body’s flushing out all waste that was released during your session.
  • Keep in mind you may experience soreness: Think of it like a mini-workout for your muscles. They’re just saying, “Hey, we worked hard!” Don’t worry, it’ll fade, and you’ll feel amazing after.
  • Ask your therapist their recommendation. They may recommend a hot shower or some ice pads to do at home. Also, we have CBD salts and creams to help you with pain and discomfort available to purchase.
  • Share the love! If you had a blissful experience, leave us a review. It helps us spread the massage magic: https://g.page/r/CfuX0D64rdv6EB0/review
